Have you come across Studio by Silentnight yet? When the new brand launched I was immediately drawn to its clean, minimal aesthetic and the calm, considered design of the beds and mattresses. Their pieces feel modern but understated, and I was pleased when they invited me to try one out to see how it would work in my own space.
Because I’ve recently moved into a larger studio, I took the chance to style and photograph the bed here before I took it home. Working in a bigger space has been a real joy — it gives me room to explore layouts and styling ideas I couldn’t try before — so testing the bed in this environment felt like the perfect way to get a first impression.
The Studio by Silentnight concept focuses on style and simplicity. The collection aims to combine attractive, contemporary design with practical features that suit modern living. The beds are intended to provide a good night’s sleep while also fitting seamlessly into a variety of interiors.
Design choices are straightforward and well thought out. You build a bespoke bed in four simple steps. First, pick from one of three headboard styles: Geometric, which offers a striking, winged silhouette with bold lines; Curve, with a softer, rounded profile; or Simplicity, a pared-back shape for a modern, minimal look. Next, choose a colour — options include ebony for a refined, sophisticated feel, slate grey or natural for a Scandinavian-inspired palette, or teal for a livelier accent.
The third step is adding practical features such as built-in storage, a helpful option for smaller homes or anyone who likes a tidy bedroom. Finally, select the size and a mattress with one of three comfort levels: soft, medium or firm. This stepwise approach makes it easy to create a bed that reflects your style while meeting practical needs.
For our studio shoot we chose the Simplicity frame in slate grey. The bed arrived in three manageable sections, which is a real advantage if you need to carry pieces through narrow hallways, up stairs, or into a small room. Assembly was minimal and uncomplicated — the panels aligned easily and it only took a few minutes to put it together.
The mattress is delivered rolled and vacuum packed in a box. Once unboxed, it needs a short period to decompress and air out — roughly an hour in our experience — and then it’s ready to use. That simplicity in delivery and setup makes the whole process feel fuss-free.
I’ve only tried the mattress for a short nap in the studio so far, so I’ll share a fuller review once I’ve slept on it properly at home. On first impressions it felt very soft to the touch while still offering supportive contouring. The mattress seemed to adapt to the body more than our current mattress, providing a cushioning sensation without feeling overly sinking.
The mattress uses memory foam, which is often a good choice for people who want pressure relief and a more contouring feel. Memory foam can also be hypoallergenic, which makes it a suitable option for those with asthma or allergies. I’ve been planning to switch to a hypoallergenic mattress for some time, so it’s encouraging to find this option that combines comfort with practical benefits.
Overall, Studio by Silentnight feels like a well-considered range: design-led, easy to assemble and deliver, and practical for modern homes. I’ll update with more detailed impressions after a few nights’ sleep, but at this stage the combination of clean aesthetics, sensible customization and straightforward setup has left a positive impression.
