Essential Entry Requirements: Your Path to Victory

To ensure a fair and comprehensive evaluation, every entrant must adhere to specific guidelines. The core principle is that you must construct your household project exclusively from a single 4’ x 8’ sheet of plywood. This constraint is designed to test your resourcefulness and creativity in material utilization. This contest is inherently skill-based, meaning winners will be carefully selected based on a combination of impeccable craftsmanship, boundless creativity, and the most effective and intelligent use of your single sheet of materials.

A complete and successful submission package must include the following components:

What’s Allowed: Guidelines for Your Masterpiece

• Materials: Your project must be constructed entirely from a single 4×8-foot sheet of plywood or Medium-Density Fiberboard (MDF). It is essential that the entire project is made from a single thickness of material, and combining materials from multiple sheets (even if they total less than a 4×8 footprint) is strictly not permitted. Every single component of your project must visually and structurally fit within the confines of that original 4×8 footprint, demonstrating your ability to maximize a limited resource. Experiment with different plywood grades, but remember the single-sheet rule.
• Tools: We encourage you to use whatever tools you have at your disposal to bring your design to life. This contest celebrates accessible craftsmanship, whether you prefer traditional hand tools or modern power tools. From saws and routers to sanders and drills, all are welcome. For those with advanced setups, CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machines are also explicitly permitted, offering avenues for intricate and precise designs.
• Fasteners & Joinery: You have complete freedom in your choice of fasteners and joinery methods. All types of fasteners – including screws, nails, dowels, biscuits, and more – are allowed. Additionally, all forms of adhesives, from wood glue to epoxy, may be used to create strong and durable joints.
