The company’s founders, who worked as pilots and spent a great deal of time in hotels around the world, understand how crucial good sleep is. They noticed how much the right bedding contributes to a restful night, and how difficult it can be to find well-made, timeless basics. This observation led them to create a range focused on craftsmanship and honest value. By selling directly from the factory and keeping margins low, Abate aims to let customers pay for quality and skill rather than a brand markup.
All bed linen is crafted from Oeko‑Tex® certified, hand‑picked Egyptian Giza cotton. This long-staple cotton produces a lightweight, fine fabric with a soft, airy feel against the skin. The weaving and sewing take place in a family-run factory in Northern Portugal, where careful attention to detail turns the high-quality material into understated Scandinavian designs. The result is bedding that feels both refined and relaxed, suitable for minimalist interiors and everyday use.
Because the fabric is finer and less dense than many common cotton weaves, it breathes more easily and helps regulate temperature through the night. The lighter hand and smooth satin weave contribute to a calming tactile experience that supports restful sleep and a comfortable bedroom atmosphere.
Alongside their satin weave bed linen, the current collection also highlights a white wool throw made in Italy. The throw is produced from 100% recycled wool sourced from the fashion and home textiles industry. It offers a sustainable touch and a natural contrast in texture to the smooth cotton sheets.
Sized at 140 x 240 cm, the throw is intended to lie across the foot of the bed, adding subtle warmth and visual interest. It also works well draped over a sofa, providing a simple and elegant way to introduce layered texture into living spaces.
